After 2 Seasons, Barry has found himself in a lot of deep trouble. Needless to say that we the viewing audience, the series, its titular character, and its supporting case are in for one hell of a ride with this third season. Let’s take a look at where our characters left off after the final episode of season two aired over three years ago.

Gene Cousineau – Throughout the entirety of Season 2, Gene focused on grief, making sense of his loss and trying to cope with the reality of it. Gene gets to a point where he wants to cancel the acting classes and give up on everything. But Barry helps him out by re-telling him about an incident from his early Marine career, ultimately inspiring Gene to move on. But by the end, Fuches plays the spoilsport and reveals to Gene that Barry was the man behind the death of his girlfriend.

Reveals the location of her dead body in the process and proceeds to flee the scene. He ends up getting arrested but is later released. Going forward in Season 3, it will be interesting to see how Gene interacts with Barry after such a revelation. Seeing how Barry helped Gene get over the loss of his girlfriend, we’ll have to keep a stern eye on this relationship and how it will change going forward.

Monroe Fuches – Out of all of the characters in ‘Barry’, NoHo Hank has had the best development. He begins a partnership with Cristobal and finally meets Esther. But Cristobal wants to bring in Esther in order to pose a threat to Hank’s position. Hank tries to take Esther out of the equation but failed in doing so. On the flip side, Barry finally agrees to come to terms and train Chechens (Hank’s gang) in order to kill Esther and her gang. But Fuches has better ideas, that inevitably bring out the best in Barry.

At the beginning of the season, Fuches wanted to find a replacement for Barry and went out of his way to do so. Hank and Barry eventually come to terms, finding common ground and hash things out. However, Fuches betrays Barry by revealing his true identity to Gene and the fact that he played the leading hand in the death of Gene’s girlfriend. This ultimately leaves Hank and Gene on good terms.

Sally Reed – Sally is the only person in Barry’s circle who doesn’t know his true identity; leading a double life as both a hitman and an actor. In Season 2, Sally breaks out as an actress and grows a stronger bond with Barry. All season she works with Barry to heal the trauma caused by her abusive marriage. Later in the season, she lands a role on a TV show, which she turns down. She goes back to telling her story but alters it slightly to get more critical acclaim, more stardom, and role offers.

Barry Berkman – By the end of the second season, our titular character has killed Gene’s girlfriend to keep his past secret. Develops his relationship with Sally and develops a play. In his other life as a hitman, he fails his mission of killing Esther which leads him to train Chechen’s gang. He also gets arrested alongside Gene as a primary suspect but gets released later on.

In the final episode, he finds out that Fuches is behind all the arrests. Barry loses all control and hunts down Fuches, finding him hiding out at NoHo Hank’s place. Upon reaching there, he goes on a killing spree and kills Esther and every one of her gang members. Fuches and Hank, however, manage to escape; staying alive for the time being.
