Wonder Woman 3 Gal Gadot Film In Development in James Gunn's Rebooted DC Universe The Nerdy Basement

Wonder Woman 3: Gal Gadot Says New Film Is Being Developed Under James Gunn and Peter Safran’s Rebooted DC Universe

Gal Gadot says Wonder Woman 3 is happening with James Gunn

Gal Gadot has once again reignited sparks for the yet-to-be-officially-announced threequel, Wonder Woman 3. In a new interview with Comicbook.com, whilst promoting her new Netflix original film, Heart of Stone, the Wonder Woman star excitingly reveals that Wonder Woman 3 is being developed and it’s being developed alongside James Gunn and Peter Safran; and that the film will be part of Gunn/Safran’s rebooted DC Universe and DC Studios banner.

It’s only been six months since we got the official slate announcement for DC Universe Chapter 1 – Gods and Monsters (that announcement video can be seen above) and we recently have gotten official casting news for James Gunn’s ‘Superman: Legacy’ film which he is writing and directing. That film is slowly rounding its leading cast which will see David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mister Terrific, and most recently, Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason/Metamorpho.

This news puts Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman in an interesting position as she’s the only actor and hero from Zack Snyder’s DCEU and post-Zack Snyder’s DCEU to “officially” transition over to Gunn/Safran’s new DC Universe after making brief appearances in ‘Shazam: Fury of the Gods’ and ‘The Flash’. While ‘The Flash’ didn’t outright reset the entire DC Universe, it appears that if this information is true, Gunn and Safran still see Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman as a big draw.

With ‘Blue Beetle’ on the horizon and confirmed to be part of Gunn/Safran’s rebooted DC Universe it’ll be interesting to see how James Gunn plays around with these characters going forward and which other pre-reboot heroes and their respective actors he’d like to stick with. Especially when these actors will not just be portraying these heroes in live-action, but also in television appearances and animated shows, and animated feature films.

‘Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom’ is still waiting to see an official release date as Warner Bros. Pictures has delayed the film yet again. Rumors have stated that James Gunn is interested in keeping Jason Momoa but not as Aquaman and potentially as Lobo. A character many DC fans see Momoa fit for. Think Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano and you have a damn near perfect casting or think Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man.

DC has been in a bit of a rut as of late with some rare hits in between and if the success of James Gunn’s ‘The Suicide Squad’ and its spin-off series ‘Peacemaker’ is anything to go by then DC fans are in for some massive Ws in this new rebooted universe despite how complicated things can get with the multiverse, casting new actors or keeping old ones.

Netflix’s ‘Heart of Stone’ starring Gal Gadot premieres August 11th with ‘Blue Beetle’ hitting theaters a week later on August 18th.
