Earlier today Marvel Studios took to social media to release 32 different character posters for Avengers: Endgame. Just like in Avengers: Infinity War 50% of those posters were dedicated to the fallen Avengers/Heroes of the MCU. While a lot of the deaths were visually seen on screen, some weren’t and just like all the survivors were seen on screen, some didn’t have the same luxury.
So who survived Avengers: Infinity War? The list is pretty long, but they go as followed:
Captain America, Captain Marvel, Bruce Banner, Ant-Man, Tony Stark, Okoye, Black Widow, Thor, War Machine, Nebula, Happy Hogan, Pepper Potts, Rocket, Wong, and Hawkeye.
Who was snapped in Avengers: Infinity War, let’s check off that list as well:
Groot, The Wasp, Falcon, Bucky, Drax, Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man, Nick Fury, Doctor Strange, Loki, Black Panther, Mantis, Vision, Star Lord and Gamora.
Thanos came. Thanos conquered and lastly, Thanos decimated not just The Avengers and The Guardians of the Galaxy, but half of the universe as well. Since the release of Infinity war there was ton of fan speculation online about some of the MCU characters who weren’t fully addressed in term of biting the dust and/or surviving the snap.
Two of the main heroes in question were Shuri and Valkyrie. Valkyrie was not seen in Avengers: Infinity War but was speculated to have escaped with half of the Asgardians from the Asgardian ship when Thanos commenced his attack at end of Thor: Ragnarok / beginning of Avengers: Infinity War.
Today we have first visual confirmation that Valkyrie has indeed survived the snap and will appear in Avengers: Endgame later this year. But what about the Princess of Wakanda, Shuri?
We last saw Shuri during the Battle of Wakanda in Avengers: Infinity War. That was followed up by the first Avengers: Endgame teaser in which Shuri was shown as one of the missing people The Avengers were looking for. And while we had no direct confirmation other than that she was missing, neither Kevin Feige or The Russos, confirmed Shuri’s death, up until today.
Just like Valkyrie, Shuri’s post Infinity War fate was confirmed via character poster for Avengers: Endgame. Just like the rest of the fallen heroes Shuri was given the greyscale colored poster. While it was speculated that she bit the dust, fans were hoping she survived the snap and took on the mantle of the Black Panther for Avengers: Endgame so she can avenger her brother’s death.
While M’Baku survived the snap and the Battle of Wakanda. His role in Avengers: Endgame if he does indeed have one to play, has yet to be revealed.
Marvel Studios has been playing marketing Avengers: Endgame close to their chests, revealing as little as possible. With the film now officially a month away from release, ticket sales are expected to go on sale soon and the fate and future of the MCU will be made clear on April 26 when it arrives in theaters.
