Nightwing Issue 78

The Nightwing Series issue continued this week. Written by Tom Taylor with art by Bruno Redondo. This is a comic book series that I have been looking forward to since Taylor and Redondo were announced as the new creative team behind Bludhaven’s masked protector.

Taylor is one of my favorite comic writers and reading this issue it’s very clear that he understands and empathizes with the tumultuous relationship that Nightwing fan’s have had with this series these last couple of years. Taylor even goes as far as to take a slight jab at “Ric Grayson” stating that if a (certain new character) gets shot in the head they will “lose its memory and be driving a cab”. Ok enough exposition let’s get to the actual story.

Nightwing

This Nightwing issue was everything that it needed to be especially for us Dick Grayson fans that have had to deal with the era of amnesia. This issue had plenty of back story to remind you not only who Dick Grayson is but also point you in the direction this series could go. We get introduced to new characters, start rebuilding relationships with some old favorites and get a massive surprise for Dick Grayson that can spawn a whole new take on the character. The artwork in this issue really bumps it up to a whole new level and gives the panels some great depth.

Nightwing, the heart of the batfamily and to a much great extent the DC Universe has returned and this series seems like it is going to lean heavily into what that means. On the villain side of things Tom Taylor has brought back staple Nightwing villain Blockbuster! The behemoth appears to be taking a much smarter approach to controlling Bludhaven by inserting his own cronies into high ranking government office and one of those officials will be none other, blast from the past, the daughter of Tony Zucco!

Nightwing

I am so pumped for what Tom Taylor has in store for Nightwing. Taylor is known for his heart wrenching, heart breaking and out of nowhere surprises and with Nightwing Taylor’s supporting cast cabinet is fully stocked for the meyhem this genius will bring to the pages. This series will definitely be on my pull list so I never miss an issue.
