The Flash P.O.W. David Ramsey John Diggle The Nerdy Basement

The Flash Season 7, Episode 16 – P.O.W (Recap/Review)

This week’s episode of The Flash sets up the show for some entertaining final episodes. The show seems to have gotten back on track after a disappointing mid-season. The episode had a fan favorite guest appearance from John Diggle who gave Team Flash an entropy device that was able to freeze any object in its path. This trap is able to even stop Speedsters. Since it appears that Barry is not as fast as the Godspeed duplicates this trap comes in handy for Team Flash. Diggle is always a welcomed appearance to any CW show but he has regularly appeared on The Flash and provides some mature insight to Team Flash, especially since Joe is away.

Barry again has a vision of his daughter Nora saying that something is wrong. Barry fears that he has done something that might cause Nora to never have been born. This leads Barry to use the entropy trap as soon as possible to catch a Godspeed. Team Flash is able to catch a Godspeed rather easily and the entropy trap works to perfection. Back at STAR Labs, Barry interrogates the Godspeed that was caught. The Godspeed explains that there are two groups of them.

One group of Godspeeds who harvest speed to give to the real Godspeed August Heart, who will end up killing them, and another group who recognizes this and decides they don’t want to die. He explains how although they did not decide to be created they can still choose to live. The Godspeed explains that Barry can help them defeat August Heart before he becomes Godspeed by killing him. Barry explains he will not kill. The Godspeed escapes and tells Barry if he is not with them he is in their way and they will kill him next time. While Godspeed escapes he destroys the entropy device as well. This leaves Barry very frustrated until Diggle is able to calm him down.

In the middle of the episode, Allegra and now maskless Esperanza are seen arguing on whether to go after Black Hole or wait till the Godspeed war is over. Allegra wants Esperanza to wait while Esperanza is keen on going after Black Hole after what they have done to her and others. Eventually, Esperanza decides she will go after them herself. Shortly after Allegra knows family is the most important thing and decides to go after Esperanza only to see her injured on the floor after a battle with Black Hole. Esperanza explains that she is dying alone and quickly dies as Allegra is holding her in her arms weeping. This arc was very disappointing to watch and was really the only negative in the show.

For multiple seasons now there has been a connection and relationship between Allegra and Esperanza. Once the fans finally got to see Esperanza turn good and lose her mask she dies. She did not need to be a main character but it seemed like the Black Hole storyline was going to be something they did together. It will be interesting to see what happens with it now. Perhaps Allegra wants to do it on her own.

Nevertheless, for the past three episodes, viewers have been watching the process of Esperanza turn good and it is a shame to see her die so quickly once she was able to so. Joe and Kramer’s storyline also progresses with Adam hunting them down in the forest. Joe explains to Kramer that there was a reason Adam made sure she was not there when all her troops were killed and that Adam must not know who he is hunting. Kramer shows herself to Adam stunning him for just enough time so Joe can hit him with Meta-cuffs. Adam explains that he is immortal and that they can not stop him.

Team Flash decides to find August Heart before the Godspeeds do. Team Flash is also able to do this with ease but when they find August, he has no idea who he is and is hiding franticly. They bring him back to STAR Labs for testing and try to find a way to bring back his memories. They decide to give August a shot of Dark Matter. He is able to tell them his name meaning that it worked and he is getting back some memories. This might prove to be a bad idea in later episodes but we will see what happens.

While Barry is recovering, the real Nora appears. Barry is shocked especially with all the visions he has had. But Nora assures him that they are both okay. Barry is confused only to meet his son “Bart” appear. Bart appears to be very laid back from the few short moments we see him. This scene has been long-awaited by fans and is definitely a step in the right direction.

Throughout the episode, Diggle is hit with phases of having a voice in his head giving him an awful headache. It appears the voices are telling him “Worlds Await”. Towards the end of the episode, he tells Team Flash there is something he needs to do. The screen then shows the shot of him opening a box to a glowing green light. This is believed to be the ring of will from the Green Lantern Corps. Hopefully, this is the case because fans will be thrilled to see John Diggle finally become Green Lantern. David Ramsey has paid his dues for The CW and deserves to be a front and center superhero.

Overall this episode was defiantly the best as of late if not the whole season. Diggle accepting his potential Green Lantern role plus the reveal of Bart is something CW/Flash fans have been waiting to see. Although the Esperanza and Allegra arc felt disappointing there was still enough in this episode for fans to be excited about the future. There is still a ton of questions to be answered about the Godspeed storyline. It is hard to imagine that the show will be able to answer all of them in the last two episodes.

Hopefully, Bart and Nora are being set up for next season and not just the final two episodes of this season. That being said with Cisco suppose to be returning for the final two episodes of the show. So even if Bart and Nora are not here for a long period of time the characters for the final two episodes should be stacked. This last episode gave loyal fans of The Flash what they have been looking for. At least showed them that the show still has interesting stories to tell and rewarded those who are keeping up with the show. Fans should defiantly tune in next Wednesday to see what happens next.
