Two beloved Speedsters return in The Flash’s final season!
‘The Flash’ is running through the Speed Force and coming to an absolute stop with its ninth and final season on The CW. While the final season will be shorter than its most recent seasons (excluding the sudden covid halt back in season seven), that’s not stopping it from pulling all the stops as we venture on this final run with the Scarlet Speedster. The Flash alum Teddy Sears better known for his role on the series as Hunter Zolomon/Zoom and series veteran John Wesley Shipp better known as the Speedster Jay Garrick will be reprising their respective roles this season, TV Line has exclusively reported.
Sears and Shipp join the returning Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, David Ramsey as John Diggle/Spartan, Keiyan Lonsdale as Wally West/Kid Flash, and Sendhil Ramamurthy as Dr. Ramsey/Bloodwork in the ninth episode of The Flash directed by Danielle Panabaker. The episode will also see Javicia Leslie as Red Death who has been meddling with The Flash behind the scenes, making her first on-screen appearance in this week’s episode “Hear No Evil”.
Nicole Maines will also be reprising her role as Nia Nal/Dreamer, as well as Rick Cosnett who will be reprising his role as Eddie Thawne. Matt Letscher will also be making a return as Eobard Thawne as well as Jessica Parker Kennedy as Nora Allen/XS. “As one of our most memorable villains ever, he scared and delighted audiences in Season 2. And now, I’m happy to announce that the brilliant Teddy Sears is coming back as the evil Zoom aka Hunter Zolomon… for one more battle against Team Flash.” said The Flash showrunner Eric Wallace.
“It’s a reunion I’ve been hoping could happen for several seasons,” the EP adds, “and now I’m so excited that we were finally able to bring Teddy and incredible talents back into our Flash Family for our epic and emotional ninth season. So, get ready to be frightened again, Flash fans!” Wallace added.
Wallace also had something to say about John Wesley Shipp’s return as Jay Garrick who was last seen in the season three finale of DC’s Stargirl, “Flash fans have loved John Wesley Shipp’s heroic and heartwarming portrayals on our show since its inception. So, it’s a huge honor to have John back as part of our epic final season. This time, John’s lent his incredible talents to an incredibly emotional story — one that sheds new light on Barry Allen’s tragic past.”
New episodes of The Flash air every Wednesday at 8 pm EST on The CW.
