RUMOR: Stargirl Renewed For a Third Season, Will Introduce Bruce Gordon

Stargirl is now rumored to have been renewed for a third season and is looking to introduce Bruce Gordon

Stargirl season one was one of the breakout hits of comic book television in 2020. By exceeding all expectations, Stargirl was quickly renewed for a second season and now the rumor is that it has been renewed for a third season ahead of its second premiere. Stargirl season two is currently filming and has yet to be given an official release date or ideal release window. Given the circumstances of today’s pandemic, that could further delay any potential release windows or ideal release dates that The CW might have been looking for.

At the end of Stargirl season one, we were teased with the introduction of Eclipso, which has now been confirmed with Nick E. Tarabay portraying the iconic DC villain. According to this same rumor report, DC Comics character Bruce Gordon is also rumored to appear in Stargirl season three. Bruce Gordon has deep ties to Eclipso and if Eclipso will be a long-term Stargirl series villain then the introduction of Bruce Gordon makes sense.

The comic book version of Bruce Gordon is described as such:

Bruce Gordon is Earth’s leading scientist in the field of Solar Energy, coincidentally the one weakness of the God of Vengeance, Eclipso. As such, the evil Eclipso makes many efforts to distract Gordon and ruin his life by using him as his own physical host, keeping him as busy as possible. Bruce Gordon reluctantly acted as Eclipso’s human body for many years and has found himself able to control Eclipso’s powers without the mental influence of Eclipso, as long as he keeps his temper in control.

The interesting part is that we are indeed getting Eclipso in this upcoming season, what’s stopping The CW from introducing Bruce Gordon this same season instead of waiting for season three? Either way, what we do know for sure is that Stargirl is indeed coming back for a second season, which as I mentioned above, is currently filming but has no official release date as of yet.

Stargirl Season 1 is streaming now on HBO Max and The CW.
