“She-Ra” Live-Action Series Being Developed For Amazon Prime Video

A live-action “She-Ra” series is early development for Amazon Prime Video. Due to the series being in early development, there are currently no writers attached to the series. DreamWorks Animation who recently produced “She-Ra and the Princess of Power” for Netflix will serve as the executive producer on the series. Despite DreamWorks Animation’s attachment to the series, the new live-action series will be a new, standalone story and will not be connected to the animated Netflix in any way.

This project would also mark the first-ever live-action adaptation of the character should it go to series. She first made her debut in “He-Man and She-Ra: The Secret of the Sword” in 1985 as part of the “Masters of the Universe” franchise prior to her receiving her own animated series “She-Ra: Princess of Power” which ran for two seasons and almost 100 episodes between 1985 and 1986.

During Netflix’s “She-Ra and the Princess of Power” animated series, any and all connection to He-Man was removed. Instead of being He-Man’s twin sister, She-Ra, whose real name is Adora was an orphan who became a willing member of the Horde on Etheria. The series featured her as a teenager who broke free from the Horde of Etheria after she discovers the Sword of Protection which allows her to transform into She-Ra and takes up the cause of the Rebellion on Etheria.
