RUMOR: MARVEL ACTIVELY DEVELOPING NEW PROJECTS WITH CHARACTERS FROM THE DEFENDERS

THE DEFENDERS

Ever since the heartbreaking individual and collective cancellations of the Marvel/Netflix series, fans have been anxiously waiting to see what Marvel Studios will be doing with these characters now that they are under their full control. I only say full control because everything outside of the MCU, better known as Marvel TV was handled by Jeph Loeb. As we all know by now, Jeph Loeb is no longer the head of Marvel TV, with full control now being in the hands of Kevin Feige who now runs everything, Marvel.

THE DEFENDERS

According to a recent rumor report from MCU Cosmic, Marvel is currently developing new Marvel projects with characters from The Defenders. In that same report, MCU Cosmic reports that there are two characters being used at the forefront of these projects. Those being Daredevil and The Punisher.

THE DEFENDERS
Marvel’s Daredevil

In an old report that was released quite a few months back, news broke that Kevin Feige was looking to keep Jon Bernthal (Punisher), Charlie Cox (Daredevil), and Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) for their respective roles because he liked the actors so much. Unfortunately, that means that Iron Fist actor Finn Jones and Luke Cage actor Mike Colter would not be making a return and will not be reprising their roles for their respective characters.

THE DEFENDERS

There are a few things Kevin Feige can do by bringing in The Punisher and Daredevil into the fold. The immediate one is having Daredevil appear in the upcoming Spider-Man 3, which is slated to start filming this coming summer.

THE DEFENDERS

With Moon Knight on the horizon and filming sometime this year, teaming up The Punisher with Moon Knight is another route Marvel can take. Eventually, with the pairing of Punisher and Moon Knight, we can a potential scenario where Marvel gives us a live-action version of Marvel Knights.

THE DEFENDERS

Having three of its core members in live-action form already could make that an easy transition. Marvel could also give us solo series or solo films for both Daredevil and Punisher if they so choose to do so. But knowing how Kevin Feige likes to differentiate his work from others who have taken a crack at it before him, solo shows for both of these characters seem unlikely, but I wouldn’t rule them out entirely.

THE DEFENDERS

Another option for Marvel could be giving us a new iteration of The Defenders. With the new rumor that Marvel has now gained full control of Hulk and Namor, we could see a new Defenders series on Disney+ or a Defenders solo film. As for Jessica Jones, things get a little muddy in terms of what direction they can go with her. But for now, since The Punisher and Daredevil are the focal points, we’ll keep tabs on those two for now and update our readers as the story further develops.
