Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige reveals episode count and run times for the first wave of MCU Disney+ Shows
WandaVision is out this week with a two-episode premiere and many outlets have had the chance to sit down with the cast of WandaVision and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige to talk more about the new series and the series the follow. We all know that WandaVision will consist of 9 30min episodes. But what about the rest of the upcoming series?
In a conversation with Collider, Kevin Feige revealed their approach in crafting episode length and episode count with their upcoming shows and how the world of streaming has changed the landscape, and how Marvel has crafted a sensible medium for their original series.
“Well, we’re looking a little differently. We’re looking at it as developing them as either six hour-episodes, or nine or 10 half-hour episodes,” said Feige. “So, for instance, WandaVision started that way and Falcon and the Winter Soldier as 30 minutes, but because it’s streaming, it’s Disney+, and the rules have blurred over the years, yes. Some can be 23 minutes. Some can be much longer than that. But She-Hulk, for instance, is being developed as 10 30-minute episodes. Some will be longer and some will be shorter. Loki, Falcon and the Winter Soldier is being developed as six 40-50-minute episodes.”
It’s interesting to see how each series will have a different runtime and episode count and that we can presume falls on the story they are telling. We must remember that the MCU Disney+ series will serve as tie-ins and ways of us keeping with characters whenever they aren’t appearing in a feature film on the big screen. So while the limelight isn’t shining on them in particular, we as the viewing audience can still keep up with the current events of said character(s).
In addition to the aforementioned series, Kevin Feige also revealed that the upcoming Moon Knight series starring Oscar Isaac, which starts filming in March, will consist of six episodes, with each episode having a run-time of 40-50 minutes. Pretty straightforward. Feige did not reveal episode counts of runtimes for Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, or their first-ever animated series What If…? all of which premiere later this year on Disney+.
WandaVision premieres its first two episodes this Friday, January 15 with The Falcon and The Winter Soldier premiering on March 19th.
