Disney Plus is in early development of a Hawkeye spin-off series centered around Deaf Native American Heroine Echo
Disney is looking to further expand their MCU slate of Disney Plus Originals with its first-ever spin-off series spanning out of the upcoming Hawkeye series which stars Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld. According to a report from Variety, Disney is in the early stages of developing a new series centered around the deaf Native American heroine Echo who is set to make her live-action debut in the Hawkeye series. Echo will be portrayed in that series by Alaqua Cox.
The Echo series which will star Alaqua Cox will be written and executive produced by Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen. The writer’s room for the upcoming series is also being put together at the time of this writing.
Echo who’s real name is Maya Lopez has the ability to perfectly copy another person’s movements or fighting style, making her a formidable opponent in battle. She has deep ties to Clint Barton’s Hawkeye as she becomes a mentor of sorts to him once his ears are injured and he suffers partial deafness. Echo has also crossed paths with Daredevil and has once taken up the moniker of Ronin who made his live-action debut in Avengers: Endgame with Clint Barton behind the mask.
Hawkeye is still currently filming and will premiere in late 2021!
