The Mandalorian was one of, if not, Disney Plus’ biggest breakout hit back when the streaming service launched a little over a year ago. With two seasons in the books and a spin-off series (The Book of Boba Fett) which recently just wrapped production. The series is still garnishing praise it has rightfully earned. The Mandalorian Season 2 has earned 24 Emmy Awards nominations and in celebration, Disney and Lucasfilm have announced an all-new special episode of Disney Gallery for The Mandalorian Season 2 which will explore the return of Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker.
Luke Skywalker made a shocking return during the season finale of The Mandalorian Season 2 in which the young Jedi Master took Baby Yoda, now properly named Grogu under his protection and his apprenticeship. This surprise appearance from Luke Skywalker marks one of the biggest kept secrets in all of Hollywood and sent waves of hype across all of social media after the episode aired. If Ahsoka Tano’s live-action debut wasn’t enough to get fans going wild, just imagine how fans reacted when they saw a de-aged Mark Hamill onscreen reprising one of his most iconic roles.
Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian Season 2 will focus on the technology used for recreating Luke Skywalker. As it delves into the collaborative process, including working with Mark Hamill, to create an authentic and fitting recreation. All while exploring the immense pressure and responsibility the filmmakers and the rest of the creative team had in bringing back one of the most important characters in film history.
