Berserk’s Kentaro Miura passes away, MAPPA employee spills the tea after he quits and our review of Yasuke and Demon Slayer: Mugen Train
Berserk mangaka Kentaro Miura has left a lasting impression on the anime and manga community that has spanned decades and will continue to do so in the decades to come. In this week’s episode of Anime In The Basement hosts Ozzy, Boozer, and Dave mourn the passing of one of the greats. MAPPA has had some highs and some extreme lows this past year and now a former employee has spilled tea about the company’s toxic work environment and the mistreatment of their employees.
Continuing with MAPPA we move on to Yasuke an anime series based on the historical figure of the same name. Hailing from the creator of ‘Cannon Busters’ LeSean Thompson. Yasuke ended up being quite the disappointment and also has a dark shadow cast around it which we will get to in our next episode.
Rounding up the episode is a review of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train by Ozzy and Dave prefaced with a rant by Boozer who is questioning the logic behind the swordsmanship featured in the Demon Slayer anime after mangaka Koyoharu Gotouge reveals that nothing is truly happening when the Demon Slayers are battling a demon. So those pretty effects we see in the anime and most recently in Mugen Train, yeah that doesn’t actually happen. So the question lies in whether or not these humans have supernatural abilities or not.
