Guardians of the Galaxy’s Chris Pratt Joins Taika Waititi’s Thor Love and Thunder
The Asgardians of the Galaxy might just be coming to the MCU after all. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt will be joining the cast of Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder. Chris Pratt who plays Peter Quill aka Star-Lord in the MCU and all of the GOTG films developed a friendly rivalry with The God of Thunder himself, Thor. By the end of Avengers: Endgame we see Thor and Star-Lord have a battle of quips over who is the new leader of the newly dubbed Asgardians of the Galaxy a new name given to the team by Thor himself.
This little exchange hinted at the possibility of Thor fully joining the Guardians of the Galaxy at some point down the road in the MCU and was a huge nod to the 2018 comic by Cullen Bunn and Matteo Lolli, Asgardians of the Galaxy. THR also hints that the remaining members of the Guardians team could also appear in the film as well. Having the rest of the team also appear will add an additional layer of friendship to the dynamic trio that is Thor, Groot, and Rocket.
Pratt now joins an already star-studded cast in Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Christian Bale, Taika Waititi, and Natalie Portman. Thor Love and Thunder is slated to start filming in January 2021 in Australia and will release on February 11, 2022.
