Hot off the heels of Travis Knight’s exit from Sony’s Uncharted live-action film, was the subtle news that Spider-Man: Far From Home star Tom Holland would be filming the next installment in the Sony/Marvel Spider-Man film franchise. Due to Tom Holland filming Spider-Man 3 this summer, scheduling conflicts have risen causing director Travis Knight to exit the director’s chair of the Uncharted film, a film that Tom Holland is also set to star in.
Uncharted extends Holland’s relationship with the studio. It remains a priority project for the studio, which has seen several directors come and go. The actor will next shoot the next Spider-Man installment in the summer.
Its a bit weird and also unfortunate to see Sony kind of shoot themselves in the foot with this turn of events. Travis Knight is still sitting hot off the heels from his directorial debut film, Bumblebee which was a huge success.
Spider-Man 3 is set to start filming Summer 2020 and will release on July 16, 2021
