The 27th Annual SAG Awards Ceremony Is Set, Here Are Your Nominees!

Following The Golden Globes’ announcement, The SAG Awards unveil their nominations. The people who might have pulled their hair out over the Globes’ snubs, will find solace in the amount of recognition The Guild has granted.

The SAG Awards is set for an April 4th telecast date, the best acting achievements of the past year will be celebrated in an expected virtual ceremony. The awards show will be covering both film and television, honoring the variety of diverse performances that 2020 had to offer. Looking over the nominations, many were quick to point out The Guild’s recognition for those who were snubbed by The Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Like Steven Yeun (Minari) and Michaela Coel’s (I May Destroy You) respective performances that stirred controversy for the HPFA. Many calling the association “racist” for a lack of diversity in their nomination list. So, without further ado, here are this year’s nominations for the 27th annual SAG Awards.

One the biggest takeaways from the nominations list was the amount of posthumous recognition Chadwick Boseman received. Earning a historic 4 nominations, Boseman scored 2 nominations for his work in Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods and his lead performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Boseman also has a place in the two films’ nominations for Best Ensemble.

Netflix leads the SAG nominations with nods going to Ozark and The Crown. Surprisingly, popular newcomer Bridgerton scored two nominations; Best Actor and Best Ensemble. Michaela Coel scored a well-deserved nomination for her undaunted take on trauma and consent in HBO’s I May Destroy You. The Screen Actors Guild eased the pain held by many disappointed with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s disregard for some of the best performances of 2020. The ceremony will be televised on April 4th on TNT and TBS.
