There’s been a ton of news this past week regarding Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and while we haven’t reported every single piece of news/rumors. We’ll tally of a few that have made the headlines this past week before getting into the most recent news bit. One being Clea’s introduction into the MCU via Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Chiwetel Ejiofor’s reprisal of his role as Baron Mordo or just simply Mordo as he goes by in the MCU. And the introduction of Brother Voodoo and America Chavez, with the latter, reportedly playing a key role in the film.
According to a new report from MCU Cosmic, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be featuring different versions of currently known MCU characters from alternate realities. The multiverse has been something that’s been teased in the MCU since Doctor Strange’s introduction in his solo film back in 2016. While not fully explored, yet, the MCU has started dabbling with the idea of the multiverse in their most recent film, Avengers: Endgame.
As seen in Avengers: Endgame changing or altering any of the past events can cause a breach in the timeline. Creating branches of new realities, thus completely changing the landscape of the original timeline that branched timeline broke off from. Still with me? Good! As also seen in Avengers: Endgame while The Avengers traveled to the events of the first Avengers film, which took place in the year 2012. We see Loki escape with the Tesseract, which contains the Space Stone. Allowing the bearer to travel across time and space at will. We also know via confirmation from Kevin Feige, that the Loki Disney+ series will see Loki traveling across the Multiverse.
Additionally, the upcoming WandaVision Disney+ series will also see Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch altering reality as she sees fit. Which will also cause a ripple effect across the vastness of the multiverse, cue in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Both the Loki and WandaVision Disney+ series will serve as tie-ins to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness due to the involvement of the multiverse, thus giving this rumor report some weight.
It’ll be interesting to see which known MCU characters will make their alternate appearances in this film. Just like MCU Cosmic mentions in their report, we could be an alternate version of Iron Man and Captain America being portrayed by different actors (don’t take that as confirmation). The multiverse is also the best way of introducing a character like America Chavez who’s from another universe entirely, plus she has the ability to open portals at will, which will be a great asset to have at your disposal in a film like this.
