Rihanna is set to take center stage at one of the biggest awards ceremonies of the year The Oscars; as the music star will perform her hit original song from the Marvel Studios ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ original soundtrack, Lift Me Up. This performance marks Rihanna’s second live performance following her performance during the halftime show at Super Bowl LVII. A performance that took social media by storm as the music star quietly announced her second pregnancy.
“Lift Me Up” also marked the first solo song to be released by Rihanna since her feature appearance on PartyNextDoor’s single ‘Believe It’. Fans of Rihanna have been anxiously clamoring for new music since her last album, Anti released back in 2016. Despite fan concerns surrounding her new pregnancy, Rihanna has confirmed that she will in fact release new music and possibly a new album sometime this year.
“Lift Me Up,” with music by Tems, Rihanna, Ryan Coogler, and Ludwig Goransson and lyrics by Tems and Ryan Coogler has been nominated for Best Original Song at this year’s Academy Awards and marks Rihanna’s first-ever Oscar nomination. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has received a total of five Oscar nominations including Best Supporting Actress (Angela Bassett), Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Costume Design, and Best Visual Effects.
The 95th Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at the Dolby® Theatre at Ovation Hollywood and will be televised live on ABC and in more than 200 territories worldwide.
