RACHEL MCADAMS NOT RETURNING FOR DOCTOR STRANGE 2

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is becoming a literal interpretation of its title, madness. Earlier today Variety broke the news that original Spider-Man director Sam Raimi is in talks to direct the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel. One little detail that was overlooked by many, including us at The Nerdy Basement was the information regarding Rachel McAdams.

Variety reported that the majority of the main cast would be reprising their respective roles. Including new addition Elizabeth Olsen who will play Scarlet Witch. Thus simultaneously confirming the rumored return of Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo. Unfortunately for fans of Rachel McAdams, she will not be returning to reprise her role as Christine Palmer. Who was not only Stephen Strange’s colleague but also his love interest.

This bit of news adds some weight to the rumored introduction of Clea who is not only a sorceress in the Marvel Universe, she is also a love interest of Doctor Strange in the comics. To make matters even worse, she is the niece of Dormammu, ruler of the Dark Dimension. Now it’s not to say that Marvel is removing Rachel McAdam’s Christine Palmer to make room for Clea but it’s something we shouldn’t rule out entirely. They’ve done this before with Thor and Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster.

This is a question I had in mind since rumors of Clea’s introduction in Doctor Strange 2 were beginning to surface.
