NEW MUTANTS RECEIVES MARVEL’S BLESSING AS THE SECOND TRAILER IS SET TO ARRIVE IN JANUARY

NEW MUTANTS

Josh Boone’s upcoming X-Men spin-off film New Mutants has seen its fair share of bumps on the road. From multiple delays in release to rumored and speculated cancellations to it being a direct to consumer release. New Mutants and Josh Boone have had to endure a lot when it comes to this film being viewed by the public. That’s not even fully taking into account the merger by Disney and Fox, which saw Disney/Marvel gaining back all the rights to its respective characters, who can now be fully integrated into the broader MCU.

NEW MUTANTS

Ever since the merger, any grain of information regarding New Mutants has been kept in the dark which sparked all the cancellation rumors, speculations and reports from outlets of all kinds. Slated to release on April 3, 2020, director Josh Boone confirmed a January trailer release for his upcoming via an Instagram comment, in response to a New Mutants fan-account.

Adding to Boone’s trailer release window is legendary New Mutants artist Bill Sienkiewicz, who made a guest appearance on Kevin Smith’s podcast Fatman Beyond.

“Two days ago, I heard from Josh Boone, the director, and he sent me a new trailer. And they’ve been working on it, he’s been working on and everything, and it is phenomenal. I got chills. It looks like, because of the whole Disney-Fox, I don’t even want to call it a merger, takeover, whatever. But it’s got the blessings of Marvel. And it feels more Marvel in terms of what they’re doing, but also the horror elements of the film are in place. It’s really, absolutely stellar, just what I’ve seen.”

NEW MUTANTS

As MCU Cosmic says in their report, New Mutants receiving the Marvel treatment and its blessing could mean various things. We’ll leave that speculation up to you, but if Marvel/Disney has truly blessed this movie and given it the Marvel treatment, while not officially part of the MCU, it will be interesting to see how Kevin Feige, Disney, and Co. deal with New Mutants going forward and what plans they have for the film despite how good or bad it does at the office once it releases.
