Dune’s massive release delay causes a massive ripple effect throughout all of Warner Bros. delaying more than just Matt Reeves’ The Batman

It wasn’t that long ago that Warner Bros. delayed Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 1984. For the time being that film is still slated to release on Christmas Day, although that might change in the coming weeks. Yesterday, Warner Bros. announced that Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune’ which was set to release on December 18 of this year, just a week prior to ‘Wonder Woman 1984′, was now delayed until late 2021. October 1, 2021 to be precise. Joining Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’ which was set to release the very same day.

After it’s initial news, Warner Bros. announced that it was shifting dates for all of its upcoming DC films due to Dune’s delay. Now Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’ starring Robert Pattinson will release March 4, 2022, with ‘The Flash’ being pushed back to November 4, 2022.

Warner Bros. has revealed that the ongoing pandemic, which has yet to subside here in the United States has not presented an ideal situation in which major blockbuster films can and should be released. This also goes back to Warner Bros. releasing ‘Tenet’ in theaters over Labor Day Weekend. Unfortunately for WB, ‘Tenet’ did not perform as expected.

While yet to receive any delays, fans can expect Wonder Woman 1984 to be delayed as well.
