Kevin Feige and company have been vastly reshaping their cinematic universe now that its first chapter will come to a close with Avengers: Endgame. Diversity is something fans have been asking for within the MCU and Kevin Feige has been about giving fans what they want. Shang-Chi will be first Asian hero brought to live-action in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. Destin Daniel Cretton is mostly known for “Short Term 12” which starred Brie Larson (Captain Marvel) and is currently shooting another film starring Brie Larson and Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther), “Just Mercy”.

Shang-Chi will be Destin Daniel Cretton‘s first foray into the superhero/comic book movie genre and we are overly excited to see what Destin has to offer to the broader MCU with Shang-Chi.

(Marvel Comics)

Shang-Chi first appeared in Special Marvel Edition #15, in 1973. He, just like Danny Rand aka Iron Fist have mastery in the Martial Arts fighting style and have teamed up on multiple occasions in Marvel Comics. Only difference with Shang-Chi is that he can create duplicates of himself and he doesn’t have two glowing fists, like Danny Rand. We can only hope to see Shang-Chi alongside Iron Fist at some point down the line, in the MCU.

Shang-Chi was created by Jim Starlin and Steve Englehart
