Black Widow Sticking To Its Theatrical Release

No Premiere Access release for Black Widow, Disney is sticking to a theatrical release

Earlier this week Disney held their annual shareholders meeting which has investors ask an array of questions regarding Disney’s slate of content for the year and in the near future. One of the major questions coming out of that meeting was the release status of Black Widow and whether or not Disney would switch to a hybrid release or stick to a theatrical release. The latter is what Disney has decided to stick with for the time being.

NEXT UP IS MARVEL’S HIGHLY ANTICIPATED SPY THRILLER BLACK WIDOW FEATURING AN ALL-STAR CAST THAT INCLUDES OSCAR NOMINEE SCARLETT JOHANSSON CURRENTLY SET FOR RELEASE IN THEATERS ON MAY 7 I KNOW MARVEL FANS HAVE BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS FILM FOR A LONG TIME AND I PROMISE YOU IT’S WELL WORTH THE WAIT IT’S ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC.

Black Widow was initially set to kick off Phase 4 of the MCU prior to the coronavirus pandemic which shifted everything Marvel Studios had planned for 2020 onward. It’s been nearly a year since the film was set to release and it has yet to see the light of day. Fans have been anxious to see the first-ever Black Widow solo film and have pleaded via social media that Marvel Studios and Disney just releases the film via Disney+ and Premiere Access.

Black Widow

So far Disney has only release two major films on their Disney+ Premiere Access, the first being Mulan and most recently Raya and the Last Dragon. Black Widow among many other big blockbusters have been held super tight to the studios’s chest as they feel that a theatrical release would be more beneficial to their respective films.

While things have yet to get better for us here in the United States with theaters not fully operational. It remains to be seen how much longer Disney and Marvel Studios hold onto Black Widow to avoid a hybrid release or a full blown Premiere Access release on Disney +.

Black Widow is set to release in theaters on May 7th
