Super Mario 64 $1.5M Sold Copy The Nerdy Basement

Sealed Copy of Super Mario 64 Sold for $1.5million Dollars

Does anyone have a mint copy of Super Mario 64 laying around?

A copy of Super Mario 64 was sold for 1.5million. That means it is the most expensive game to ever be sold. Super Mario 64 was released in 1996 and is one of the most popular video games that were sold by the Nintendo franchise. Supposedly there are only a few good copies of Super Mario 64, which makes the game in high demand. It has historical significance that lots of people like to look back on. It was sold at Heritage Auctions which is based in Dallas, TX. These days a lot of retro games are coming back and increasing in popularity.

The Heritage Auctions called this mint condition Super Mario 64 game, the highest-graded copy of the game. That Wata rating is 9.8 according to the Twitter post that the Heritage Auctions made. It beat out The Legend of Zelda mint copy that was sold at $870k. Wata is a special grading system that is used for retro-style games. Buyers will use that value to determine if what they’re selling is at a good price. I don’t know about anyone else but 1.5million sounds like a good price to me.

It seems that all the old-school collectibles such as Pokemon cards, Zelda, and Super Mario items have been in high demand during the pandemic especially. Do you have any special collectible items that you think might be worth auctioning off? Let us know what you think!
