Bungie has delayed their upcoming Destiny 2 expansion ‘Beyond Light’ until November. The expansion pass was slated to release this September.
Working remotely has become an incredibly daunting tasks for everyone around the world including those in the entertainment industry. Hollywood hasn’t been the only part of the entertainment industry that has been drastically impacted from the current pandemic. The video game industry has also been hit hard. The entire gaming industry has been working remotely and that has caused unwarranted and unexpected delays due to these dire circumstances.
While delays in gaming have always been the norm, given the times its a bit more understandable than usual. Bungie has announced an official delay in their upcoming Destiny 2 expansion pass, Beyond Light. The expansion was slated to release this September, which would also see the end of Destiny 2’s Season of Arrivals event. Due to the delay, Destiny 2’s Season of Arrivals has been extended until November 10th. This will also serve as the new release date for the Beyond Light expansion pass.
Last month Bungie announced not one but three new expansion passes coming to Destiny 2 starting this year and running all the way through 2022, with Beyond Light ushering in the new era of Destiny for the next two years.
As the first chapter in a new trilogy of expansions, Beyond Light is the beginning of a new era of Destiny 2. We have a powerful story to tell and incredible new features that we’re really excited for players to experience. As always, our goal is to make the coolest, most entertaining expansion we can possibly make for our fans. To that end, we are doing what’s best for the game and moving the launch date.” said a developer in an official statement.
“The past few months have been a challenge and will continue to be during this pandemic. We’ve learned to create together in a new way, by having to work apart from one another. Despite these hurdles, we’re still committed to the same level of quality that our fans expect.”
Bungie went on to reveal that new details for Destiny 2: Beyond Light will be revealed in the coming weeks. With today’s climate, everyone has been hosting their own virtual events to make their company specific announcements. If more details are to come in the next few weeks, you can probably expect another virtual event being held by Bungie in order to reveal more about Beyond Light.
