My Hero Academia is back with another episode and this week there’s a lot of information to take in and absorb. As Young Midoriya takes his next step in becoming stronger, on his path to becoming the Number One Hero.
If you caught my review/recap of My Hero Academia’s fourth season premiere, then you might remember that I mentioned this week’s episode in that review. While I held back spoilers. I mentioned that this week’s episode was the episode that was shown at New York
This week the series focuses on both the villains and the heroes. We have a deadly exchange between Yakuza member, Overhaul and the League of Villains led by Tomura Shigaraki. Overhaul is brought in by Twice. As he is looking to take Shigaraki and his League of Villains under his wing for his own personal gain. This doesn’t sit well with Shigaraki. Words are exchanged and things become deadly….almost too deadly. A price both sides were willing to pay.
Overhaul is here to make his presence known and felt. And I am more than sure that this is just the tip of the iceberg Overhaul will be in this entire going forward. While the focus on the villains is somewhat brief. Its paced in a decent fashion. Quirks were on full display and we all know that’s why we watch My Hero Academia……don’t worry, I know we all secretly watch just to admire best boy Bakugou…we stan!!
Speaking of the heroes in training or I should say the new, official, first-year heroes. The tides switch over to Class 1A. The students are now looking for a work-study program to join. Deku seeks the help of All Might’s mentor Gran Torino, which Gran Torino kindly (in his old man ways), declines. He does suggest that Deku asks All Might to introduce him to his former sidekick, Sir Nighteye. In doing so, Mirio Togata, who’s been training under Sir Nighteye’s watchful eye is asked to present Midoriya to him to train him as well.
Sir Nighteye is strict in his ways, with an intimidating gaze. But he loves a good laugh. Get him to laugh and you’re on his good side. Fail to do so…and it might not turn out to be the most fun time you’ll have. Just go ask Bubble Girl…..yikes!
All in all this was a solid episode and the true start to Season 4 of My Hero Academia. While I, along with everyone who attended the NYCC panel, and the manga readers, know what’s to come in next week’s episode. As Deku tries to win Sir Nighteye over. Without spoiling anything, we get a quick glimpse of this without context in the Season 4 trailer. What happens in context is beautifully animated. Especially with the respective Quirks in full display!
My Hero Academia Season 4 is streaming now on Crunchyroll, Hulu and Funimation
