Sony Pictures is developing a live-action One Punch Man film with the writers of Venom

One Punch Man

One Punch Man fans rejoice a live-action adaptation of the hit anime/manga series is officially in development over at Sony. Venom writers Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner have been tapped to pen the script. The duo has quickly become Sony’s go-to writing duo after three back-to-back box office hits in Venom, Jumanji and Jumanji: The Next Level.

Avi and Ari Arad will be producing the live-action One Punch Man film through their production company Arad Productions. According to Variety, who has exclusively broken the news on this film, have revealed that Sony is very keen on One Punch Man and the viral success it has garnished since it made its debut in the anime/manga scene in 2012.

Variety also reveals that Sony is open to adding another [presumed] anime/manga franchise in their live-action adaptions of anime films. Seeing how live-action anime films from American Hollywood Cinema has missed the mark heavily (looking at you Dragon Ball: Evolution). Sony might be testing the waters first before getting ahead of themselves and pushing out more than just one anime/manga franchise to the scene.

If Sony is finally able to pull off the first-ever successful anime live-action film adaptation. You can bet that other movie studios will be following suit.

We can only hope we get a proper live-action Dragon Ball film but then again, do we really want to risk it?
