NETFLIX’S COWBOY BEBOP SUSPENDS PRODUCTION DUE TO FREAK ACCIDENT DURING FILMING

COWBOY BEBOP

Not long into the production of the Cowboy Bebop live-action series and Netflix has found themselves hitting a major roadblock. Production on the series has officially been shut down for the next 7-9 months due to a freak accident on set that involved lead cast member John Cho.

John Cho is set to play lead character Spike Spiegel. During the filming of one scene on set, Cho suffered a knee injury that would require immediate surgery and extensive rehab. Netflix revealed to Deadline that the stunt was previously rehearsed and the scene in question was meant to be the final moment of that specific scene. While details are minimal. Netflix has decided to wait for Cho to fully recover to start production on the series once again. As they do not want months of pre-production to go to waste and they do not want to recast the role. Which is something that should be highly respected on Netflix’s behave.

Filming will reportedly commence in the late Spring to early Summer of 2020. While a release date was never announced, we should expect this halt in production to push back the premiere of the series even further. We would like to wish John Cho a healthy and speedy recovery. See you space cowboy!
