While Cowboy Bebop haunted production way before the current coronavirus pandemic due to a critical on-set injury to lead star John Cho. Netflix’s live-action adaption of the cult classic anime series won’t be hitting the streaming platform for quite some time. Despite that, Netflix has already planned a second season of Cowboy Bebop.
This might seem familiar to many because Netflix preemptively greenlit a second season of their new hit original series The Witcher before the series made its debut this past December.
The report of the second season of Cowboy Bebop comes from Observer who was able to chat with the executive producer and writer of the series Jeff Pinker. Observer revealed that they spoke to Pinker prior to him taking off for a “notes call” regarding Season 2’s script. Exciting isn’t it?
Pinker also revealed his excitement for the series and the opportunity of bringing such a classic anime series to life for the very first time. Pinker also revealed that he is looking forward to working with the cast and crew once again in New Zealand, where the series is being filmed. He described it as “a really fun, dynamic visualization of this insane anime.” He also went on to add, “I think that because we have these hour-long episodes, we have an opportunity to take the anime and sort of like just deepen and dimensionalize the source material.”
