Variety is reporting that Disney is rebranding the studios it bought from Fox last year during the acquisition.

20th Century Fox will now become “20th Century Studios” while “Fox Searchlight Pictures” will now be simply “Searchlight Pictures.”

It’s safe to say that we won’t expect to see the classic Fox logo up for much longer. Aside from dropping the Fox name, Disney still has plans to make further rebranding changes all across the board.

“On the TV side, however, no final decisions have been made about adjusting the monikers of production units 20th Century Fox Television and Fox 21 Television Studios. Discussions about a possible name change are underway, but no consensus has emerged”, according to a source close to the situation.

Variety is also reporting that Disney has already started the process in phasing out the Fox name with e-mails. By the time of this writing, addresses have or will be changed for Searchlight staffers, with the address replaced with the extension.

It was a given that Disney was going to continue making huge changes to Fox after it acquired the studio, especially after shutting down many of their studio lots. The name-change as well as any further continued transitioning will officially cement the re-branding ▪
