We are nearing the 24-hour mark of the Disney/Fox deal finally closing and becoming official, welcoming home the X-Men, the Fantastic Four and other Marvel characters. The main question that lingered prior to the deal becoming official is still lingering. What is happening with Dark Phoenix and New Mutants? Other than the future of the current X-Men franchises and its leading and supporting cast members. Today we’ll focus on New Mutants.
New Mutants directed by Josh Boone has been in what we like to call developmental hell or should we say post-production hell. The movie was sent back to reshoots by Fox, in order to intensify the horror aspects of the film, after some less than satisfying feedback from test screenings. Unfortunately for Boone and the rest of the cast, reshoots have yet to be scheduled. So that has left the film up in limbo without counting its delay, due to the scheduled reshoots or lack thereof.
Rumors and reports across the internet have been back and forth. We’ve reported some of those rumors once or twice on our social media pages, but we decided to stop due to not having any concrete information to back up these rumors.
One of the main rumors was that Disney was considering releasing this film either on Hulu or on their upcoming streaming service Disney+. Now that the Fox buyout has closed and become official. Disney is still not clear about what they want to do with New Mutants and how to release it, or I should say, where to release it.
I won’t sit here and pretend I know too much about the INs and OUTs when it comes to the behind-the-scenes business of releasing movies in theaters or direct to customers. But the only thing I can reassure you guys is that Disney will eventually clear the air and let us know, hopefully soon, when we will see New Mutants.

New Mutants is slated to release on August 2nd.
