The highly anticipated anime debut of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has finally arrived and boy did it deliver! Not only did the episode do a great job at setting up the first season of the anime. It does a great job at displaying the emotional stakes the main character Tanjirou will have to endure and overcome throughout his journey.
Giyuu’s introduction sat well with me too. He enlightens not just Tanjirou but the viewer as well, about the dangers that linger in this universe when it comes to the man-eating demons. Tanjirou’s sister Nezuko, and the rest of his family were slaughtered by a demon. Giyuu reveals how a human can transform into a demon; and how these same demons can revert said human back to human form.
The twist here is Nezuko. She is now a demon but she is still aware of who her brother is. As she protected him when Giyuu tried to attack him, despite Nezuko attacking Tanjirou prior to Giyuu’s arrival. But toGiyuu’s surprise of course, this is not normal. Maybe there’s something special about Nezuko and the Kamado Family?
Demon Slayer has arrived and is here to stay!
