Black Panther won’t be returning to the big screen until 2022 and while the long wait time for the film might already have fans of the Wakandan King antsy, this new rumor from Charles Murphy could send fans into a massive frenzy!
According to Charles Murphy Victor Von Doom, better known as Doctor Doom. A longtime nemesis of the Fantastic Four, Doctor Doom has also gone toe-to-toe with the likes of T’Challa, The Black Panther, is rumored to be the main villain of the upcoming sequel.
The rumor also reveals that Doctor Doom will be looking to expand his empire across Africa, eventually crossing paths with Black Panther himself as he tries to stop Doctor Doom from potentially invading Wakanda. In the 2010 comic book event “Doomwar”, focuses on Doctor Doom invading Wakanda in pursuit of Vibranium.
This isn’t the first time Doctor Doom’s name has been brought into potentiality of being in MCU. Shortly after Disney’s acquisition on Fox, which saw Marvel Studios regaining the rights to the Fantastic Four and all their related comic book characters. Kevin Feige met with Noah Howley, who was once on board with Fox to write the script for the now canned Doctor Doom solo film.
Whether or not Marvel could be looking into implementing some of his ideas into Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther 2 remains to be seen.
