MARVEL WILL KEEP DEADPOOL RATED-R, WRITERS RE-CONFIRM

DEADPOOL

One of the biggest concerns among fans ever since Disney acquired Fox was what was happening with Deadpool? Will he stay as an R-rated IP or will he be reduced to a PG-13 disaster? The former and the latter have happened and both seemed to have worked out for Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool just fine.

After ramblings online about Deadpool’s future within Disney and Marvel Studios, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed multiple times that Marvel is willing to dab into R-Rated filmmaking now that they are the sole owners of Deadpool. Seeing how one of Deadpool’s initial success was it’s R-rating, granting Fox and company the opportunity to NOT censor the Merc with a mouth. It only made sense that Disney and Marvel Studios keep the formula that made Deadpool successful in the first place. Keep it’s R-rating and keep Ryan Reynolds and his writers on board as this new chapter unfolds.

In a new report by MCU Cosmic, the site has provided a direct quote by the writers of Deadpool courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, in which the writers confirm that Marvel Studios will indeed allow them to keep Deadpool as an R-rated film going forward.

“I think the party line and truth is we’re all still figuring it out. Marvel has promised to continue to let us play in the R-rated Deadpool universe, and the hope is that they will also let us veer into the MCU a little bit as well and play in that sandbox.”

As mentioned above, and in prior reports by other media outlets including MCU Cosmic, Bob Iger, Kevin Feige and company are dead set on building up the success of Deadpool without hindering the quality of the product. While Deadpool will still remain a separate franchise, he will be incorporated into the MCU and will inevitably crossover with The Avengers and the rest of the MCU.

If there’s anymore need of proof that Marvel Studios is cooking something up, Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds tweeted the following:
