Earlier this Summer, writer Jonathan Hickman changed the status quo of the entire X-Men landscape with HOUSE OF X and POWERS OF X, as part of his ‘Dawn Of X‘ grand design.
Now, writer Zeb Wells will be continuing the momentum as he helps to shape the new age of mutants with an all-new X-Men title – introducing the new HELLIONS! Joining him will be rising superstar artist, Stephen Segovia. Wells, Segovia and Marvel Comics claim that this is the team you’re going to love to hate!
HELLIONS will be part of the previously released six X-Men titles. In as such, it will pick up from the laid groundwork where the X-Men invited all mutants to Krakoa – ALL mutants. To the point where they even forgave the evil actions of the most dangerous of enemies. One in particular was Mister Sinister. Sinister has known to always be a master manipulator and one who always tends to pull the strings behind the scenes. However, he has now chosen to find some type of purpose for mutants, especially those considered dangerous outcasts. So he enlists Wild Child, Nanny, Orphan Maker, Empath, and Scalphunter! If that’s not crazy enough, overseeing the team and working hand-in-hand with Sinister are two standout X-Men: Havok and Psylocke! How will this ‘team’ function when everything about them screams “dysfunctional”? Wells (Amazing Spider-Man, New Mutants) is beyond excited to take this band of not-so-merry mutants on this twisted journey with his own brand of dark comedy and character development.
“I can’t believe I get a chance to play in the sandbox Jonathan Hickman and company have so brilliantly created,” says Wells. “For my money it’s the most exciting game in town and I can’t wait to let this merry band of psychopaths loose in it.”
Segovia has been rapidly climbing the ranks as a hot artist. His Marvel work presently includes CONTAGION and SUPERIOR CARNAGE. “I am HUGE fan of Zeb Wells’ work. The moment I read his HELLIONS pitch, I was blown away,” says Segovia. “It’s a new level of mutant stories and I was overjoyed and pumped to begin drawing it immediately. I can’t wait for you guys to see the magic we’re cooking up and I promise you’ll enjoy the ride!”
